Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a potential five-year, $110 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to support the military branch’s cruise missile science and technology demonstration project.
The Defense Departmentsaid Monday Lockheed’s missiles and fire control unit will design, develop, manufacture and test prototype “Gray Wolf” cruise missiles in an effort to help the Navy advance networked collaborative operations technologies and overcome potential adversary air defense systems.
Seven offers were submitted to the Air Force Research Laboratory for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract via a competitive procurement.
The service branch obligated $2.8 million in fiscal 2018 research and development funds at the time of award.
Contract work will occur in Dallas, Texas, through Dec. 17, 2022.
