Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a potential $281.1M contract from the U.S. Army to produce 18 Sentinel A4 radar systems intended for use in air and missile defense operations beyond visual range.
The service branch received three bids for the hybrid contract and obligated $6.5M in fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Work will take place in Liverpool, N.Y., through March 31, 2026.
Sentinel A4 will be the successor to the Sentinel A3 phased array radar and be equipped with a three-dimensional X-band functionality to detect rocket, artillery and mortar threats, according to a FedBizOpps summary.
