Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $120.9 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide an integrated undersea surveillance system as well as engineering services for a sonar system.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday Lockheed’s rotary and mission systems business will support the Acoustic-Rapid-Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Insertion sonar system that works to integrate and optimize towed array, hull array, sphere array and other ship sensor processing components.
The modification also covers the provision of IUSS, a surveillance technology designed to help the Navy detect, identify and classify submarines.
Work will occur in Manassas, Virginia and Clearwater, Florida through December 2017.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $12.6 million at the time of award from the military branch’s fiscal 2015 and 2016 shipbuilding conversion funds as well as fiscal 2016 and 2017 “other” procurement funds.
