The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) space systems business a potential 10-year, $112.7M contract to help maintain a satellite system built to facilitate military communications across the world.
Lockheed will sustain the Mobile User Objective System’s space segment as well as legacy terminals that support the narrowband satcom network’s net-centric communication functions, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Naval Information Warfare Systems Command will use the Navy’s fiscal 2020 through fiscal 2029 operations and maintenance funds for subsequent task orders iunder the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
Fifty-four percent of work will take place in Littleton, Colo., and the remaining 46 percent in California and Arizona.
