The U.S. Navy has awardedLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) a $109.6 million contract modification to support Block 3F upgrade of company-built F-35s.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the modification covers the provision of 567 modification kits for offboard system hardware and turnaround assets as well as recurring labor for the completion of hardware and software upgrades.
Lockheed will perform work through December 2021 in Texas, New Hampshire, Maryland, California, New York, Florida and Ohio in support of the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and international partners.
The Naval Air Systems Command obligated the full modification amount from the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy’s fiscal 2015 and 2016 aircraft procurement funds; the Air Force’s fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds; and international partner funds.
Block 3F is part of the F-35 program’s block development approach and intended to provide 100 percent of the software required for full warfighting function that covers data link imagery, full weapons and embedded training.
