The service branch ordered two full-rate production lots of the GMLRS Unitary and Alternative Warhead rounds for itself and foreign military customers, Lockheed said Thursday.
Work will occur at company-run facilities in Arkansas, Texas, Pennsylvania and Florida through 2026.
GMLRS is an all-weather munition that offers precision strike capability for military operators and can be fired from the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and the MLRS family of launchers.
Jay Price, vice president of precision fires at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business, said the company works with the Army and supply chain partners to scale GMLRS production capacity and address the increasing demand for the munition.
