Lockheed Gets $961M Air Force IDIQ for Targeting Pod Upgrade, Sustainment Services

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has secured a potential five-year, $961 million contract to perform upgrades and provide sustainment services for the U.S. Air Force™s Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers 683 Sniper pods, spares, sensor and software updates, logistics support and other services, Lockheed said Wednesday.

Paul Lemmo, vice president of fire control/special operations forces contractor logistics support services at Lockheed™s missiles and fire control business, said the company is proud to continue its partnership and support the service branch™s operations through the delivery of targeting technology platforms.

Sniper ATP works to detect and track long-range small tactical targets and designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting functions.

The pod has a two-color laser spot tracking tool, Global Scope software and short-wave infrared system that work to support reconnaissance and targeting operations and can be integrated with F-15, F-16, F-18, F-2, Typhoon, A-10, B-52 and B-1 planes.

Lockheed also received from the Air Force a $200 million contract in June to sustain Sniper ATPs and navigation pods for 13 foreign military sales clients.
