Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a potential 10-year, $3.3B contract to provide logistics and orbital operations support for the services Milstar, Advanced Extremely High Frequency and Defense Satellite Communications System III programs.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract includes sustainment, enhancement and resiliency support for the three satcom systems, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Milstar is designed to deliver assured satcom capability to the U.S. president, the Department of Defense and U.S. armed forces. It eliminates the need for ground-based relay stations and reduces the risk of interception.
AEHF is a joint service satcom system designed to provide jam-resistant communications to military assets on the ground, air and sea. It helps DoD manage strategic and tactical forces through all conflict levels.
DSCS works to deliver long-haul, nuclear-hardened communications to the Air Forces airborne terminals, ground mobile forces of the U.S. Army, Navy ships and other users.
Work will occur at three Air Force bases in Colorado and California through Nov. 30, 2029. The Space and Missile System Center is the contracting activity and will obligate funds upon issuance of delivery and task orders.
