Lockheed Gets $131M Follow-On Contract for Paveway II Bomb Kit Production

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $131 million follow-on contract to continue to manufacture laser guided bomb kits for the U.S. Air Force.

The company said Wednesday it will supply Paveway II Plus LGB kits for the ninth consecutive year to USAF and the contract includes funds meant to address the service branch’s foreign military sales and replacement kit requirements.

Paveway II Plus employs semi-active laser seekers and pneumatically controlled canards that work to guide the weapon designed to integrate with Paveway II LGB weapon configurations and aircraft.

Joe Serra, director of precision guided systems at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business, said the company aims to help increase warfighters precision capacity with the guidance system.

The company is scheduled to begin production of GBU-10 and GBU-12 guidance kits and air foil groups for GBU-10 in the first quarter of 2018.

Lockheed has supplied the U.S. Navy, Air Force and 24 other international customers with more than 7,000 dual-mode LGB kits and 160,000 training rounds to date.
