Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) space segment has received a potential $473.8M contract to perform alteration work for the U.S. Navy’s Trident II D5 fleet ballistic missiles as part of a second life extension initiative.
The company will help the service branch's strategic systems programs organization to increase the lifespan of the submarine-launched weapon under the D2 LE2 SSP Alteration Advanced Development Program, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The Navy will obligate $2.8M in fiscal 2020 Navy research, development, test and evaluation funds for the sole-source award.
Work will take place in Denver, California, Maryland and Florida as well as various designated locations.
The Pentagon expects Lockheed to complete work by Sept. 30, 2026.
