Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will supply additional missile launcher systems for installation on the U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Constellation-class frigates under a four-year, $231.4 million contract modification.
The service branch procured 70 more MK41 Vertical Launching System modules along with ancillary equipment from company’s rotary and mission systems business, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Naval Sea Systems Command issued the modification with foreign military sales to two international governments.
Eighty percent of contract purchases are for the U.S. government, 13 percent for Australia and the remaining 7 percent are for Spain.
MK 41 VLS is designed to simultaneously communicate with different missile types and weapon control systems, according to Lockheed.
