Leonardo DRS™ land electronics business received a $132.1M delivery order from the Defense Information Technology Contracting Office to produce the first batch of mission command computing systems for the U.S. Army.
Leonardo DRS said Wednesday it will supply the service branch with processor units, dismountable tablets, interconnecting cables, docking stations, keyboard units and ruggedized display units with multi-touch and sunlight-readable features.
The initial order falls under the potential 10-year, $841.5M Mounted Family of Computer Systems II contract awarded in May 2018.
Bill Guyan, vice president and general manager of DRS Land Electronics, said MFoCS is a key component of the Army™s modernization efforts that include the implementation of a mounted computing environment and an updated network.
MFoCS II is designed with a cybersecurity technology that will work to help commanders secure the hardware across user operations. The system also retains some of the original platform’s features such as a dismountable tablet and sunlight readable rugged displays.
