Leonardo, then Finmeccanica, has purchased the remaining 60 percent of shares in Pisa, Italy-based Sistemi Dinamicifrom systems engineering firmIDSfor an undisclosed sum in a strategy to expand Leonardo™s portfolio of unmanned systems.
The transaction includes the acquisition of Sistemi™s SD-150 Hero unmanned helicopter program and will allow Leonardo to combine its capabilities in systems integration through the development of sensors and unmanned vehicles, Leonardo said Tuesday.
Mauro Moretti, CEO and general manager of Leonardo, said the acquisition seeks to reflect the company™s investments in unmanned platforms.
SD-150 Hero is a rotorcraft unmanned aerial system designed for use in critical infrastructure monitoring missions, disaster relief and rescue efforts as well as border surveillance activities.
