L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received an $86M full-rate production order for two-channel handheld tactical radios for U.S. Special Operations Command.
The companysaid Thursday its Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 two-channel handheld radios work to provide tactical communications and complies with USSOCOM’s standards.
This initial order supports special operations radio needs under the Next Generation Tactical Communications program and stems from a $390M contract issued in 2015 under the Next Generation Tactical Communications program.
The radios also feature an interface tailored for easy use, modularity for mission-specific applications and an open architecture that accommodates new waveforms and features.
Special operations forces may use the radio for multi-channel and satellite communications.
“This full-rate production order is a major milestone in our contract with USSOCOM,†said Dana Mehnert, president of communication systems at L3Harris.
