L3 Technologies (NYSE: LLL) won a potential eight-year, $131.7M contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop a proximity sensor technology that will offer a “height of burst” feature for general purpose warheads.
The company will replace the military branch’s current DSU-33D/B sensors in an effort to address obsolescence, performance and functionality issues, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
USAF received three offers for the Cockpit-Selectable Height-of-Burst Sensor program via a competitive acquisition process and is allocating $513,244 in fiscal 2018 procurement funds at the time of award.
Contract work will occur in Cincinnati through April 2027.
