The global technology company said Tuesday the acquisition of Sonatech, an engineering and manufacturing company specializing in underwater acoustics, will be finalized later in 2025, pending government approvals.
Expanding Portfolio with Underwater Technology
Sonatech has been in the industry for over five decades and has established itself as one of the leading experts in undersea acoustics. The Santa Barbara, California-based company offers advanced sonar technologies, specializing in the design, development and production of sophisticated systems utilized in nearly all classes of Navy underwater systems.
Driving U.S. Market Growth
Kongsberg aims to leverage Sonatech’s relations with the defense sector, particularly with the Navy, to boost its presence in the U.S. market. In addition, the acquisition is intended to establish Kongsberg as an expert in the ocean space.
