Kevin Scott to Succeed Harry Shum as AI, Research EVP at Microsoft

Kevin Scott, chief technology officer of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), will assume additional duties as executive vice president of artificial intelligence and research in early 2020, CNBC reported Wednesday.

He will succeed the departing Harry Shum, who will continue to serve as adviser to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and co-founder Bill Gates until his resignation. Shum is a 23-year company veteran who joined Microsoft in 1996 as a researcher and worked on the firm™s Bing search engine.

Scott assumed the CTO role at Microsoft in January 2017 after he served as senior VP of infrastructure at LinkedIn.

Prior to LinkedIn, he held leadership roles at Google and AdMob.
