He has led general management functions and business growth initiatives within the division since joining the Manassas, Virginia-based biological materials provider in 2015, ATCC said Tuesday.
Leonelli also oversees the nonprofit organization’s products and services intended for emerging infectious disease, biodefense and global health security initiatives.
He ushered the ATCC group during the COVID-19 health crisis and worked to ensure the deployment of appropriate biomaterials to public health laboratories and private-sector researchers. His team also responded to requests from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as part of the pandemic response.
Previously, he served as VP of Engility’s national security systems and solutions business and held various leadership roles at Raytheon, Applied Signal Technology and General Dynamics.
He earned his inorganic chemistry doctorate from Indiana University and his research experience includes chemical and biological warfare agent detection and remote sensing.
