Jason Hopkins, a nearly two-decade space sector veteran, has been appointed to a vice president role at Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) subsidiary offering lunar infrastructure services.
He will oversee strategy and business development functions at Crescent Space, according to a LinkedIn post published Sunday.
Lockheed launched Crescent in March to bring an infrastructure-as-a-service offering to moon missions in both the government and commercial markets.
Hopkins started his career with Lockheed in 2004 as an engineer and moved to NASA in late 2009. While at the space agency, he managed flight test integration under the Orion program for Exploration Flight Test-1 and integration operations in the Kennedy Space Center’s Vehicle Assembly Building.
His professional experience also includes work as technical adviser to then-senator Bill Nelson on science and space matters, program manager at Masten Space Systems and advanced systems manager of strategic technology at Ball Aerospace.
The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduate returned to Lockheed as director of lunar infrastructure services in July 2022 after more than five years at Ball Aerospace.
