James Winnefeld, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, has been appointed chair of Acalvio Technologies‘ newly created board that will advise the cybersecurity company on federal business matters.
Acalvio said Thursday the federal advisory board will offer their perspectives as the Santa Clara, California-based software provider aims to help government clients address cyberthreat defense challenges.
“I look forward to working with and supporting the leadership team at Acalvio on their mission to provide Active Defense to both enterprise and public sector customers,” Winnefeld noted.
The 37-year Navy veteran served as vice chairman of the Department of Defense’s Joint Chiefs of Staff from August 2011 to July 2015. Prior to that role, he concurrently led both U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command.
Winnefeld is a board member at Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) and a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.
