NASA has awarded a potential two-year,  $500 million extension to a Jacobs Engineering Group (NYSE: JEC) subsidiary on a test and operations support contract for support of the space agency’s launch services program at Kennedy Space Center.
The agency said MondayJacobs Technology will continue to perform overall management and implementation work for ground systems, flight hardware processing and launch operations at the Cape Canaveral, Florida-based KSC.
Jacobs will provide ground processing for launch vehicles, spacecraft and payloads to support International Space Station, Space Launch System, Orion and other launch services programs such as ground systems development and operations.
Other work will include planning and special studies; development of designated ground systems; operational support for design and development of flight hardware and ground systems; servicing and processing of spacecraft, payloads and launch vehicles; ground systems services; and logistics and other processing support services at Kennedy.
Jacobs Technology originally received the contract in December 2012 for testing and operations support services to NASA’s launch programs.
