Iron Legion JV Wins $265M USSOCOM IDIQ for Intelligence Support Services

Iron Legion JV, a joint venture tied to General Dynamics Information Technology and service-disabled veteran-owned small business Legion Systems, has won a $265.2 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide intelligence support services for U.S. Special Operations Command.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-reimbursable award includes a five-year base period and a five-year option period, with work expected to run through March 24, 2036, the Department of War said Thursday.

The work will be performed within and outside the continental United States. USSOCOM at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida serves as the contracting activity.

How Is Iron Legion JV Structured?

While Iron Legion JV is registered between Iron EagleX and Legion Systems, GDIT now owns 100 percent of Iron EagleX.

GDIT acquired Iron EagleX in 2024 in a move the company said was intended to expand its portfolio of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber, cloud and software development capabilities supporting intelligence and defense missions.

What Did Iron EagleX’s Michael Grochol Say About the Contract Win?

Michael Grochol, vice president of technology at GDIT and former CEO of Iron EagleX, called the USSOCOM contract award a long-term goal and credited the joint team’s proposal effort.

“I won’t deny it… winning ISSJ has been on my bucket list for well over 10 years,” Grochol wrote in a LinkedIn post. “The team that put together this solution knocked it out of the park.”

Grochol added that contract execution will be the priority moving forward.

“The best part about this team is we know something very important… winning means nothing. Executing is everything,” he wrote. “It’s an honor to continue to serve this community. We won’t let you down.”
