Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) has secured a five-year, $94 million contract to deliver satellite communications support services to Space Systems Command
The company said Tuesday it will provide new capabilities and security sustainment services in support of the Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services program under the contract, which has a potential total value of $103 million.
The ECS3 contract will enable the EMSS Service Center to continue providing secure and standard voice, broadcast, push-to-talk and other communication services to users across the Department of Defense.
Scott Scheimreif, executive vice president of government programs at Iridium, said the company has been providing sustainment and security enhancements to the Department of Defense EMSS Program Office for the past two decades.
“The EMSS mission is a perfect example of the U.S. Space Force’s recently released Commercial Space Strategy, leveraging the innovation of Iridium and our valuable partner ecosystem,” Scheimreif said.
The ECS3 contract replaces the $54 million Gateway Maintenance Support Services Agreement signed in 2019.
Iridium provides EMSS support through 2026 under a seven-year, $738.5 million contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency. The new award will support EMSS infrastructure through 2029.
