India’s ministry of defense has cleared a proposal to buy a training system for P-8 military aircraft crew and associated maintenance service from Boeing (NYSE: BA) through a potential $307.5 million contract.
The Indian government said Thursday Boeing’s P-8 training platform will work to help the country’s navy train and rehearse for complex flight missions on the aircraft.
Boeing would also provide comprehensive maintenance services over a 10-year period as part of the proposed contract.
P-8I aircraft is equipped with a sensor and communication suite that offers intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare capacities.
Indian MoD also approved a separate proposal to acquire a low-intensity conflict electronic warfare system through a $74.2 million contract with M/s Bharat Electronics.
