IBM’s Juliane Gallina to Serve as Chief Information Officer at CIA in April

Juliane Gallina, who currently leads key accounts at IBM™s (NYSE: IBM) U.S. federal business, will assume the chief information officer role at the CIA on April 1, Federal Times reported Tuesday.

She will succeed John Edwards, who will continue to serve as deputy chief operating officer at the agency.

œWelcoming Juliane back to the agency to lead our global IT efforts will ensure CIA continues to outpace our adversaries in IT innovation, said Andy Makridis, chief operating officer at the CIA.

Gallina, a two-decade Navy veteran, has worked on the Watson artificial intelligence program and other projects at IBM since joining the company in 2010.

She also served as a senior system engineer and deputy program director at the National Reconnaissance Office, where she oversaw the development, deployment and on-orbit operations of a national security system.
