IBMs (NYSE: IBM) Center for The Business of Government and the National Academy of Public Administration have established a new center to advance the development and implementation of Agile government principles.
G. Edward DeSeve, a visiting fellow of the IBM Center and a fellow of the academy, will lead the Agile Government Center, the academy said Friday.
DeSeve is executive in residence at Brookings Executive Education and co-chair of the academys Transition 2016 initiative.
He previously served as a special adviser to former President Barack Obama, chief financial officer of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and deputy director for management and controller at the Office of Management and Budget. He was founder and president of Public Financial Management and managing director at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.
The AGC will encourage government agencies, private sector partners, academic institutions and nonprofit organizations to take part in the development and dissemination of Agile principles and related policies.
The centers proposed principles include the advancement of evidence-based platforms and diversity of thought, elimination of roadblocks through the help of organizational leaders and engagement of cross-functional teams in face-to-face communication.
