Ian Folau, an entrepreneur and a U.S. Army veteran, has been appointed principal of LMI™s new venture capital fund.
The Tysons, Va.-based consulting firm said Wednesday it will pursue partnerships with startups through LMI Ventures to build up its support of federal clients across digital services, management advisory services, advanced analytics and logistics areas.
Cos DiMaggio, chief technology and strategy officer of LMI, said Folau™s insight and leadership will be key as the company seeks partnerships with startups to quickly deliver platforms to federal customers.
Prior to LMI, Folau co-founded and served as CEO of open-source risk management technology provider GitLinks, which was acquired by software firm Infor in 2018.
His nine years in the Army included time as a threat intelligence officer in Afghanistan and chief of security in the 82nd airborne division at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
He is the Austin City lead for a nonprofit group, Bunker Labs, which helps military veterans pursue entrepreneurship.
