Bridget Gauer, former director of the National Institutes of Health’s Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center, has joined IT consulting firm Cognosante as senior vice president of strategy.
She brings over 25 years of contracting experience to her new role and was previously responsible for NIH’s governmentwide acquisition vehicles such as the Chief Information Officer – Solutions and Partners 3 contract, Cogosante said Monday.
Prior to her most recent role, Gauer served as acting director for the acquisition program support division within the Department of Health and Human Services’ acquisition, contracting and grants management office.
Her HHS career also includes time as division director of contracts for the department’s assistant secretary of preparedness and response.
Michele Kang, founder and CEO of Cognosante, said Gauer has a “strong track record in acquisition management at large federal agencies” that will help the company as it executes its growth strategy.
Gauer also worked at the Federal Communications Commission and Department of Homeland Security in contracting leadership positions.
