Harris Lands $189M Contract to Build UAE's Integrated Battle Mgmt System

Harris (NYSE: HRS) has secured a two-year, $189 million contract to build an integrated battle management system for the United Arab Emirates’ military.

The contract was booked during the company’s fiscal 2017 first quarter under the Emirates Command and Control System Land Tactical System program that aims to integrate, coordinate and maximize the efficiency of UAE military assets, Harris said Monday.

Ed Zoiss, president of Harris’ electronic systems business, said the Land Tactical System project is part of UAE’s efforts to advance the battlefield management and staff function capacities.

Zoiss added the system will work to help the country’s land forces brigades operate in modern combat environments.

Harris’ BMS offering helps military customers track forces in the battlefield, develop and execute tactical operations as well as integrate data such as intelligence, local weather, personnel and planning information into battlefield operations.
