Hanwha Defense USA has appointed Stephen Adams as senior vice president of finance, bringing nearly 30 years of financial leadership experience across the defense, aerospace and manufacturing sectors, the company announced Thursday on LinkedIn.
What Will Adams Do at Hanwha Defense USA?
In his new role, Adams will help drive program performance and business transformation initiatives as Hanwha Defense USA expands its operations in support of the U.S. defense industrial base.
According to the company, Adams’ experience in defense and aerospace and his leadership of finance organizations position him to support Hanwha’s growth strategy in the U.S. market.
What Experience Does Adams Bring to the Role?
Before joining Hanwha Defense USA, Adams served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Austal USA. He previously spent more than eight years at L3Harris Technologies, where he served as CFO of the Advanced Systems Group.
His previous leadership experience also includes serving as director of finance at Elbit Systems of America and DynCorp. Adams also spent nearly eight years at SAIC, serving in various roles, including group controller and vice president.
Adams’ appointment is the latest in a series of leadership moves at Hanwha Defense USA. In March, the company promoted Reed Tewell to chief information officer. The leadership team was further reshaped in November 2025 when Michael Coulter was named president and CEO and Mike Smith assumed the roles of chief operating officer and president of the land systems business. A month earlier, retired Rear Adm. Tom Anderson joined the company as president of U.S. shipbuilding.
