XTec Wins GSA Deal to Modernize Governmentwide Credentialing System USAcess

XTEC Inc. has secured a task order from the General Services Administration to provide identity authentication and management technologies for USAccess 2.0.

The task order was awarded on Tuesday by GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, according to data on the Federal Procurement Data System. About $9 million will be obligated at the time of the award.

How Will GSA Modernize USAccess?

According to solicitation documents posted on SAM.gov, GSA is streamlining and modernizing USAccess systems and processes to become scalable, modular and more agile to emerging technologies. The program, which was established in 2007, has issued over 1.2 million Personal Identity Verification, or PIV, cards and is in use across 105 customer agencies.

USAccess complies with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12: Policy for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors, which requires the establishment of a governmentwide standard for secure and reliable forms of identification issued to employees and contractors to enhance efficiency and reduce identity fraud.

GSA also wants USAccess to adopt modern identity protocols, such as Security Assertion Markup Language 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, System for Cross-domain Identity Management and RESTful Application Programming Interfaces.

In addition, the platform must have a multi-tenant architecture, able to customize workflows and maintain data security based on agency requirements.
