The General Services Administration has begun seeking proposals from companies with commercial online platforms that could provide business-to-business e-commerce support for federal buyers of commercial off-the-shelf items using government purchase cards.
GSA plans to award multiple contracts to vendors that own, manage and operate commercial online systems that offer a wide range of routine commercial items and general products and are aligned with multiple categories of products as identified by the Office of Management and Budget and the Category Management Leadership Council in the Government-wide category structure, according to a request for proposals published Tuesday.
GSA said it expects the potential addressable market for the commercial online program to be between $1 billion and $2 billion.
Over 25 federal agencies participate in GSA’s Commercial Platforms program and the agency intends to expand the initiative to additional agencies.
The agency listed user experience, risk management and compliance and cybersecurity and data capabilities as program objectives that should be met by potential offerors of commercial online platforms.
GSA will accept questions related to the RFP no later than Jan. 5.
