Eight U.S. carriers have secured contracts worth potentially $2.24B combined from the General Services Administration to provide discounted airfares to federal travelers during the government’s 2021 fiscal year.
Airlines will offer pre-negotiated and firm-fixed-price rates beginning Oct. 1 through the GSA’s FY 2021 City Pair Program, the agency said Tuesday.
The criteria for selecting CPP participants include non-stop service availability, flight offerings, average elapsed flying time and service price. The government expects to save as much as $1.2B over the next fiscal year through the program,
“Official travel has been reduced significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we expect that the GSA City Pair Program will continue to save taxpayer dollars and provide travel solutions to help agencies meet their missions,” said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Julie Dunne.
