The General Services Administration has asked industry for comments on plans to issue a multiple-award blanket purchase agreement as part of an acquisition strategy for enterprisewide cloud services.
The BPA will enable federal, state and local government agencies to purchase and implement commercial software-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service cloud offerings on a pay-as-you-go basis, GSA said Thursday.
“The IT environments in which the government operates are changing and evolving at a rapid pace, driving GSA to leverage the Multiple Award Schedule Cloud SIN to develop an easy-to-use, government-wide acquisition solution for cloud services in a hybrid model,” said Keith Nakasone, deputy assistant commissioner for information technology category at GSA.
“The number-one thing agencies ask for is an acquisition solution that offers a full set of commercial, secure, soup-to-nuts, cloud products and services. We think now is the right time to make it happen,” Nakasone added.
A request for information issued by GSA inquires about industry capabilities and experience in the deployment of a cloud service platform a government agency, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program certification and supply chain risk management program. The agency also wants feedback on the acquisition strategy, award evaluation criteria and pricing for products and services.
