GSA Announces FDA as New Partner Under IT Modernization CoE Initiative; Anil Cheriyan Quoted

The General Services Administration and the Food and Drug Administration have partnered to support FDA’s information technology modernization efforts through GSA’s Centers of Excellence initiative.

The FDA’s office of information management and technology and the CoE program will advance tech transformation by building up an inclusive employee engagement culture to help the workforce deliver new platforms and processes in support of FDA’s regulatory responsibilities, GSA said Thursday.

“The Centers of Excellence is partnering with the FDA to support its IT community and accelerate the modernization of core capabilities,” said Anil Cheriyan, director of GSA's technology transformation services office. “We’re bringing the best talent from within the federal government and the private sector together to collaborate and drive the next generation of customer-centric results at OIMT."

Vid Desai, chief technology officer at FDA, said OIMT oversees the agency’s technical infrastructure and delivers critical technology to centers and offices in support of public health efforts.

The FDA is the latest federal agency to team up with GSA through the CoE initiative. GSA’s agency partners include the departments of Agriculture and Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.
