General Dynamics' (NYSE: GD) information technology business has secured a $761.6M contract to update and secure information technology infrastructure that supports the U.S. Southern Command mission.
The company said Monday it aims to increase the interoperability and security of the combatant command's IT systems under the Cyber IT Enterprise Services contract from the General Service Administration's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center.
GDIT will also provide cloud and edge computing and X as-a-Service platforms to Southcom.
Leigh Palmer, senior vice president of GDIT's defense division, said the company will apply innovation and emerging technology to the IT modernization project.
The single-award contract has seven base months and six option years.
