A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has won a potential $106 million contract from the U.S. Navy to carry out the fiscal 2017 dry-docking phased maintenance availability of the USS Makin Island amphibious assault ship.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday that General Dynamics’ NASSCO business will perform ship maintenance, modernization and repair services under the firm-fixed-price contract.
Work will occur in San Diego, California, through September 2018.
The Naval Sea Systems Command received two offers for the contract via a competitive procurement process on the FedBizOpps website.
The service branch will obligate the base contract value of $105.4 million at time of award from its operations and maintenance and “other” procurement funds in fiscal 2017.
