A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has received an $83.5 million contract to sustain the U.S. Navy™s fleet of littoral combat ships and maintain the vessels’ facilities.
San Diego-based General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. will work to control corrosion on the ships, schedule maintenance works, administer support services and plan depot-level modification projects, the Defense Departmentsaid Monday.
NASSCO is scheduled to complete work by May 2017 and the Navy obligated the full contract amount at the time of the award using its fiscal 2016 operation and maintenance funds.
As the contracting activity, the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center awarded the contract May 20.
