A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) business unit has received a potential $264.8M firm-fixed-price contract to provide bomb components to the U.S. Army.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems will manufacture parts for the military service’s MK80 and BLU-109 Tritonal bombs, the Department of Defensesaid Thursday.
Army Contracting Command received one bid for the contract and will determine work locations and funds upon issuance of individual orders.
The Pentagon expects the company to finish work by Oct. 31, 2023.
BLU-109 is a hard-target penetrator bomb designed to penetrate up to six feet of reinforced concrete and reach weapon storage, command, communications and transportation areas.
MK80 is a general purpose bomb that can integrate with aircraft platforms such as F-15, F-16, F-18, Tornado, Gripen, and Eurofighter Typhoon.
