General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) information technology business will deploy a cloud-based platform to update NATO’s IT infrastructure under a potential five-year, $140 million contract from the NATO Communications and Information Agency.
The company said ThursdayGeneral Dynamics Information Technology will work to facilitate IT modernization at NATO in efforts to drive operations and build on the organization’s cyber posture.
“This IT modernization program comes at a critical juncture for the Alliance… at a time of unprecedented challenges on both the northern and southern flanks,” said Bernie Guerry, senior vice president of GDIT’s intelligence solutions unit.
GDIT will deliver updates for obsolete IT systems, implement business continuity and disaster recovery measures, establish service levels in cloud computing, develop information security, execute operational agility and create service operations centers for command and control of IT services across NATO member nations.
Dan Johnson, president of GDIT and an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017, signed the contract with NCI Agency General Manager Koen Gijsbers in Belgium, where the project will primarily be based.
Previous reports have noted NATO’s plans to award an estimated $3.2 billion in contracts over the next few years for modernization activities in areas such as cybersecurity, command and control, communications and IT.
