General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works subsidiary has received a potential $181.9 million contract modification to continue providing planning yard services for the U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers.
The modification marks the final option period on a previously awarded contract and covers the delivery of long lead-time materials for DDG-51 destroyers, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Work will occur at the contractor’s facility in Bath, Maine, through January 2024.
The Navy is obligating $2.3 million in other procurement funds for fiscal year 2023 and $2.2 million in FY 2023 operations and maintenance funds.
In July, Bath Iron Works was selected as one of the two contract awardees to conduct shipbuilder engineering and design analysis for the Navy’s next-generation guided-missile destroyer program, DDG(X).
