General Dynamics™ (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works subsidiary will support the U.S. Navy‘s planning yard efforts for the Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyers under a potential five-year, $86.7M contract.
The contract has a $26.4M base value and covers DDG 1000 post-delivery and in-service life cycle support, the Department of Defensesaid Wednesday.
Planning yard work includes facility planning, maintenance and modernization planning, ship configuration, configuration data management, logistics, material orders and shock qualification test and analysis.
Work will run through December 2023 and primarily occur at the Bath Iron Works facility in Maine.
The Navy will obligate $25.6M in fiscal 2019 shipbuilding and conversion along with research, development, test and evaluation funds at time of award.
DDG 1000 is projected to reach initial operation capability status by fiscal 2020.
