General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat business received a $192.8M contract modification to provide design changes, engineering support and planning yard services for the U.S. Navys strategic and attack submarines.
The modification, which is part of a potential $1.04B contract awarded in July, covers the delivery of technical data and drawings as well as the modernization of operational submarines and related systems, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Other services include submarine safety design assessments, facility and training support, research assistance and a range of engineering work for propulsion and non-propulsion systems.
Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $190.2K in fiscal 2019 other procurement funds at the time of award.
Seventy percent of contract work will take place in Groton, Conn., and the rest in Georgia, Washington, Hawaii and Rhode Island. The Pentagon expects work to conclude by September 2023.
