A business unit ofGeneral Atomics has received a $221.6 million contract modification to supply with U.S. Army with extended-range Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft systems, associated hardware and support.
The Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday that General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. will deliver 20 extended-range UAS units; 20 satellite communications air data terminals; six universal ground control stations; one mobile ground control station; and nine universal ground data terminals.
GA-ASI will also provide three lots of spares, three lots of ground support equipment and associated program management.
The modification also includes an option for an additional five extended range Gray Eagle UAS; five SATCOM air data terminals; and program management support.
DoD said the full obligated amount at the time of award is from fiscal 2016 “other” funds and work will occur in Poway, California through Nov. 30, 2019.
Gray Eagle is a derivative of the Predator UAS that supports reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and attack operations as part of the Army’s aviation modernization plan.
