The FY 2024 Defense Appropriations Act reflects a $27 billion increase from the FY 2023 enacted funding level, the House Appropriations Committee said Wednesday.
The appropriations measure would provide $3.72 billion for Army combat vehicles; $2.3 billion for the Next Generation Air Dominance program and collaborative combat aircraft development; $1.8 billion for 10 additional P-8 maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft; and $1.1 billion for additional C-130J military transport planes.
The planned construction of eight new Navy ships would get $33.6 billion in funding. The bill, for instance, would provide $1.35 billion for the advance procurement of a DDG-51 Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer.
The U.S. Space Force would receive $18.7 billion in research and development funding, reflecting a 12 percent increase from the prior fiscal year’s enacted funding level.
The proposed legislation would provide $343 million in funding for Joint All-Domain Command and Control and more than $200 million for the Replicator program to support the development and deployment of attritable, autonomous systems.
