Former USPTO CFO Anthony Scardino Takes Managing Principal Role at Grant Thornton

Anthony Scardino, chief financial officer of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office over the past nine years, has been appointed managing principal of CXO transformation services within Grant Thornton™s public sector practice.

The 29-year financial management veteran will lead as team of former government leaders within the company in efforts to help government clients manage service delivery and missions outcomes, Grant Thornton said Tuesday.

Scardino served as deputy undersecretary for intellectual property and acting deputy director at USPTO for nearly two years before he was promoted to the CFO position in August 2010.

He also held a similar role at the Federal Election Commission and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and worked as a senior budget analyst for the FBI earlier in his career.

During 2006, Scardino briefly held a senior manager role at Grant Thornton and led programs with customer agencies such as the departments of Agriculture and Justice as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
