Cecil Haney
Retired Navy Adm. Cecil Haney, former head of U.S. Strategic Command, has been appointed to General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) board of directors.
His nearly 40-year military career has included leadership positions in the submarine force and joint assignments, General Dynamics said Wednesday.
Prior to his retirement in 2017, Haney led the global command and control of U.S. strategic forces that supported nuclear, missile defense, space, cyber and electronic warfare missions.
He also oversaw the Navy’s operations from the U.S. west coast to the Indian Ocean as commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Phebe Novakovic
Phebe Novakovic, chairman and CEO of General Dynamics, said Haney brings national security leadership experience that will help the company continue to provide products and services to the government.
“He is a visionary leader and thinker who will be a valuable addition to our board of directors,” added Novakovic, a 2019 Wash100 winner.
Haney also serves a member of board of managers at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and as a director at the Center for New American Security.
