Scott Rayder, former chief of staff at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has been appointed as president of Lynker, a company focused on environmental technology.
Rayder brings over two decades of leadership and management experience surrounding environmental issues and research integration and operations activities, the Leesburg, Virginia-headquartered company said Tuesday.
Lynker Founder and CEO Joe Linza welcomed Rayder into the newly-created president position.
“With a proven track record of driving growth and innovation, Rayder is poised to lead Lynker into a new era of success,” Linza stated.
Rayder served as NOAA’s first chief of staff from 2001 to 2008. Previously, he was the executive director of the Alabama Water Institute within the University of Alabama, where he headed a team that secured the most notable award in its history. The university received a $360 million grant from NOAA to form a new hydrology research institute.
In his most recent role as vice president of climate, energy and environment at Leidos, Rayder supervised a group of experts that delivered operations and services for environment-centered company projects.
He currently chairs the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System Federal Advisory Committee, which advises both the NOAA administrator and the Interagency Ocean Observation Committee, and is an independent board member at Blue Innovations Group.
Rayder said he is “honored and humbled to be joining the Lynker team.”
