Former McAfee CEO Christopher Young Joins Microsoft as Business Dev't EVP

Christopher Young, former CEO of computer security software provider McAfee (Nasdaq: MCFE), has joined Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) as executive vice president of business development.

He will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and oversee the technology firm's global BD strategies that include strategic alliances, joint ventures and venture investment efforts, the company said Wednesday.

Young led McAfee through the antivirus software vendor's 2017 spinoff from Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) to operate as an independent entity focused on helping customers protect systems and data.

“The pace of change in our world is accelerating, and technology-driven experiences that are more connected, interactive and intelligent are the drivers,” Young said. “It is great to be joining Microsoft, to help lead this transformation in the way we work and live.”

His career also includes time as senior VP and general manager of the Intel security group and SVP roles at Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) security and government group, VMware's (NYSE: VMW) end-user computing business and RSA.

Young serves on the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, which advises the government in efforts to protect the nation and prepare for emergency situations.
