Former Federal CIO Tony Scott Joins Squire Patton Boggs as Senior Data Privacy, Cyber Adviser

Tony Scott, former federal chief information officer under the Obama administration, has been named senior data privacy and cybersecurity adviser at international law firm Squire Patton Boggs.

Scott™s œinsight into the data protection and cybersecurity policy landscape from his time as the government™s CIO and private sector will be of substantial benefit to our clients, as will his on-the-ground experience spanning many different sectors, Robin Campbell, co-chair of the law firm™s global data privacy and cybersecurity practice, said in a statement released Monday.

During his time as federal CIO, Scott helped create the Open Source Policy and facilitate reforms to the federal information technology policy as well as led efforts to establish the president™s Cybersecurity National Action Plan.

He previously worked as CIO at VMware (NYSE: VMW) prior to his appointment as federal CIO in February 2015.

Scott also held CIO and other senior IT roles at technology firms such as Microsoft (NYSE: MSFT), Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) and General Motors (NYSE: GM).
